2023 Project

Basketball Project

Objective:

Providing a facility for Teenagers and adults in the heart of the community

Phase 1 has now been completed and in response to public opinion we want to bring forward Phase 3 which would see the installation of a Basketball court to provide a sports facility specifically dedicated to meeting Teenager’s needs. Knowle Park has served the community well but is now requiring investment and there is a need to introduce further sports facilities to expand the suitable age range. Furthermore, the village has seen growth since the Tennis Courts was installed, including three significant housing developments, putting additional pressure on these community facilities.

The Basketball court will be like the one installed in Brueton Park Solihull, providing a half court for practice and games.

Location:

The proposed location of the court is near the football practice area as shown in the image.  Consideration has been given to the proximity to residents with the Knowle Park location being futher away from houses than the comparable courts in Bentley Heath and Brueton Park.

Fundraising:

All fundraising is being managed through the Knowle Society which is a registered charity.  The Society was successful in securing £12,000 from the Council in the form of a grant with the additional money required being raised from donations from members of the Public and Businesses.

Timing Plan

The aim is to install the basketball court during the spring of 2024.  To do this fundraising must be completed by October 23 to enable the Tender and Procurement process to be carried out.
